Carey Gabay Fellowship (CGF)

The Carey Gabay Fellowship is a paid two-year, full-time legal fellowship program created in honor of Carey Gabay, the former assistant counsel of the New York Governor’s Office. The chosen Carey Gabay Fellow will work directly with the counsel to the Governor staff on the issues and policy areas that Carey championed throughout his career: violence prevention, economic equality, and community development.

As part of a generous benefits package, the incoming Carey Gabay Fellow will earn an annual salary of $72,765, and commit to serving their role in Albany, NY for the duration of the two-year program. The first year of the Carey Gabay Fellowship entails participation alongside the Empire State Fellows program, to include bi-weekly evening classes and additional career development sessions. The successful awardee must be a mid-career attorney (at least five years of post-bar experience) who, like Carey Gabay, is committed to public service, hails from an economically disadvantaged background, and most importantly, embodies the integrity and kind-heartedness that distinguished Carey personally.
